JANUARY 2024

Annual Rose Pruning and Bare Root Planting Workshop
Rain or shine, this is our most well-attended workshop of the year. Space will book out for this fun and informative workshop so register early to reserve your spot.
9:00-9:30am: Tool cleaning. Bring your shears/pruners/clippers and gloves and we'll show you how to clean, sharpen, and care for your tools prior to heading out into the garden for pruning.
9:30am-noon: Hands on Workshop of Pruning Demonstration & Planting Bare Root Roses. The program begins inside the center (classroom format) for a 30-minute introduction to pruning and the basics of planting bare root roses. Then we'll head outside to the garden with our rosarians to put your learning to work and to give hands-on instruction. Bring gloves (warm and pruning), hat, sturdy boots/shoes, raingear, warm jacket.
Warm beverages and refreshments will be served throughout the morning.

Plant Selection: Choosing the right roses for your garden. We'll discuss the best varieties for Sonoma County along with how to plant and fertilize them for optimum health and blooms.
Open to the public, free to attend.

MARCH 2024
March 21, 2024
Thursday at 6:30pm.
Pest Control: Join us as we talk about good bugs and bad bugs. We'll learn about common rose diseases and pests and we'll give you tips and tricks on how to avoid these bad bugs for a healthy and vibrant rose garden.
Open to the public, free to attend.

APRIL 2024
April 18, 2024.
Thursday at 6:30pm.
Displaying Your Roses. Bring a few of your roses to the program and we'll provide the instruction and vases to show you how to create eye-catching arrangements and displays with each type of rose bloom and stem size/shape.
Open to the public, free to attend.

MAY 2024
May 4, 2024. 57th Annual Spring Rose Show. Public viewing from 1pm-4pm. Show schedule will be provided at the April meeting.
Open to the public for free viewing. Must be an ARS member to participate in Rose Show.

Annual Plant Sales sponsored by the Santa Rosa Garden Club and Redwood Empire Rose Society. Come support the two garden-focused clubs by purchasing your spring plants during the one-day sale. Portions of proceeds benefit the SRJC Horticultural Program Scholarship Fund.

Celebration Potluck Dinner. Join us as we welcome in summer and celebrate the rose show winners. It's a potluck-style dinner. Set up begins at 5:30pm; dinner at 6:30pm.

Deadheading and Summer Garden Maintenance. Bring your clippers as we'll show you to summer prune/deadhead your rose garden, what type of fertilizer to use for the summer season, and offer advice and tips for summer garden maintenance.
Free and open to the public.

Thursday at 1pm. A member outing to local public garden or a private tour. Location and details in the coming weeks.
Must be a member to attend this tour.

Hybridizing. Learn how rose are grown and brought to the commercial market.
Open the public, free to attend.

Thursday at 6:30pm.
Holiday Designs. A fun, hands-on workshop using roses to create holiday home décor.
Open to the public. Fee for workshop TBD.

NOVEMBER 2024

Thursday at 5:30pm.
Harvest Potluck Dinner and 2025 Officer Installation. Join us for a potluck-style dinner to usher in the holidays. There will be a White Elephant Gift Exchange (optional participation) and the 2025 officers will be installed.
